New beers, a few more comments from the weekend
Beer first:
24 – Kronenbourg 1664 (5.0%) – 7, standard continental lager
25 – Phoenix White Tornado (4.3%) – 7, sweet golden beer, possible hints of ginger, but has a surprising crispness to it
26 – Acorn Sovereign (4.4%) – 7, very dark colour, smoky, almost like a porter or stout. Pretty decent brew
27 – Acorn Summer Pale (4.1%) – 6.5, standard pale ale, average
Some points from the weekend having caught up with more footage. They really, really need to overturn that Kevin Burns decision. No way that should be anything other than a DQ decision. TKO is ridiculous. At worst, give Johnson time to recover and deduct a point from Burns, and then let Johnson lay and pray for the remainder of the round and take a decision or something.
Looks like Fedor is being lined up to face Arlovski at the next Affliction card, sometime in October. This could well be even better than anything they lined up last weekend.
The amount of money Vera is on is disgusting. $200k including the win bonus? Jesus. At least it’s not as bad as what Sylvia earned for 36 seconds’ “work”. Interesting to note in general that Affliction are claiming that they’ve got into six figures worth of PPV buys, which is extremely impressive. The gate figure wasn’t bad either, although it doesn’t cover the salaries and it’s not really close. Not really knowing how much they spent on promotion and other overheads, they may not have lost as much as people thought they would.
